 1. Definition of terms

Registered Computer:

A network device managed by the respective member, with a physical address assigned to them in the member database.

Registration Data:

  • Full name
  • Address of residence
  • Room number
  • ID card/passport number
  • Physical address of the network interface used to connect to the Ynet network
  • Computer name
  • Login
  • University/School

Rules:

  • Statutes
  • Resolutions of the General Assembly
  • Regulations of the Board
  • Network Usage Rules (this document)
 

 2. General rules

Member

  • Must keep with the following rules:
    • Laws of Slovak Republic.
    • Rules of network SANET 1).
    • Rules of network STUNET 2).
    • RFC 1855 (netiquette).
  • Is obliged to respect commands of administrators on his block and/or his depute
  • Has right to use all the advantages originating from his membership without reasonless restrictions
  • Cannot manipulate network cables and other network facilities.
  • Is obliged to report any change of his registration data
  • Is obliged to provide access to his room for network maintenance procedures
  • Is responsible for content and management of his data and all executed from his registered computer
  • Cannot provide non-member with advantages originating from his membership
  • Cannot use advantages originating from his membership to commercial use
  • Cannot use network to propagate unrequested information, political, religion, and racial agitation, propagation of drugs and spread materials, which are in contradiction to valid laws of Slovak Republic

Compliance Monitoring

  • A member is required to provide access to their room and to their registered computer as necessary for verifying compliance with the association’s rules.
  • Refusal to provide such access when verifying a suspected violation of specific rules will be considered as confirmation of the suspicion.
  • These inspections may only be carried out by persons authorized by the association’s Board, in cooperation with the local administrator of the respective block.
  • User activity on the network may be monitored for the purpose of ensuring compliance with the rules or maintaining network operations. User activity must not be monitored for any other purpose.
 

 3. Safety

  • A member must not:
    • Use any means to obtain access rights or privileged status other than those assigned to them.
    • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to protected information or data of other users.
    • Disrupt the work of other users or the operation and performance of the network.
    • Use the network to gain unauthorized access to information systems.
    • Perform activities that damage information systems.
  • Fail to report identified security vulnerabilities to the association 3).
  • Use any rights that do not belong to them; if such rights are obtained, the member is obliged to report this immediately to the association and must not make use of them.
  • Neglect responsibility for securing their own computer.

 

4. Connecting unauthorized persons and devices

  • Without the approval of the board member can not by any means connect Ynets network with other networks (expect cases defined in part Virtual computers and virtual networks)
  • Only registered computers in reconciliation with registration data can be connected to Ynets network
  • Member´s computers cannot serve an gateways connecting unregistered devices to network
  • Local administrator can grant an exception from rules in this paragraph in its block 

Virtual computers and virtual networks

  • A member may create virtual networks for the purpose of accessing other networks.
  • A member must not create virtual networks for the purpose of providing access from foreign networks into the Ynet network.
  • On their registered physical computer, a member may create any number of virtual computers, interconnect them freely, and provide them with access to the Ynet network.
  • Network activity originating from a virtual computer is considered to be the activity of the corresponding host physical computer.

 

5. Communication

  • A member has the right to raise relevant questions related to the operation of the network or their membership in the association and to receive an answer.
  • In matters related to network operation, the member primarily communicates with their local administrator, or with the administrator of the relevant service.
  • In other matters, the member communicates with the public relations group (via the email address info(at)ynet(dot)sk).
  • A member is obliged to familiarize themselves with the information about the association published on the website http://www.ynet.sk/
  • In case of any complaints, a member may contact the association’s board (predsednictvo(at)ynet(dot)sk).
  • Official information is sent to members at the email account they obtained upon registration with the association.
 

 6. Final clauses

  • The Board of the association may grant exceptions to these rules.
  • The level of services provided is subject to the association’s capabilities.
  • Ynet is not responsible for any damage incurred by a member in connection with the use of the network or their membership in the association. Ynet is not responsible for the integrity of user data.
  • A member is obliged to immediately report any violations of the rules to the association.
  • If a member causes damage to the association, they are obliged to fully compensate for it.
  • In cases of rule violations, the Board decides on sanctions against the member. Sanctions may include, for example, extraordinary deduction of membership fees, loss of benefits, expulsion from the association, initiation of disciplinary proceedings at the university, etc.
